Unique Home Furnishings
Welcome to Gado Gado Indonesian Arts and Furniture!
Gado Gado is a retail store located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. Open since December 1997, Gado Gado was founded to provide an assortment of unique, intriguing items directly imported from Indonesia.
We currently have over 4000 sq. ft of display floor space filled with a variety of beautifully handmade furniture and accessories.
Gado Gado, which is a popular vegetarian dish, is loosely used in everyday Indonesian to connote a mixture of different things so we thought it was the perfect name for our business - everything about us and our business is gado gado! From our mixture of items from all over Indonesia, to our mixed backgrounds - this business of ours is a wonderful blend of our personal and work lives.
Gado Gado Indonesian Furniture is a direct importer of handmade Indonesian furniture and accessories from Java, Bali, Borneo, Timor, Sumatra, Lombok and Sulawesi. Here you will find a unique collection of Indonesian antique and new furniture, mainly Java Furniture and Bali Furniture. We carry mostly solid teak wood furniture, either plantation teak furniture or reclaimed teak furniture and also old wood primitive furniture. We also incorporate bamboo, coconut, rattan, stone and burl teakwood into some of our furniture.
Our indonesian furniture collections include daybeds, benches, TV or entertainment cabinets, dining and console tables, carved armoires, coffee tables, chairs, lazy and lounge chairs, plantation chairs, chest of drawers, bed chest, primitive benches, weaving or weaver's table, old doors or gebyok in Javanese, wedding beds or sometimes called opium bed, and old architectural pieces.
Traditional Indonesian furniture design is influenced by chinese furniture, western-especially dutch colonial type furniture, and indian furniture, although some designs are purely indonesian.
Our accessories include balinese wood carvings, stone or wood buddha, masks, wooden puppets, old shadow puppets, baskets from Borneo/Kalimantan and Lombok, Dayak rattan matts, textile hangers, ikat from Sumba, batik from Java and silver jewelry from Bali.
All items are chosen through personal travels in search of exciting and handmade objects showcasing the skill of Indonesian artisans.
We hope that you enjoy our collection of ethnic furniture as much as we enjoy searching for them. Thank you for visiting our site and we hope you can experience the sensations of Indonesia's rich and diverse culture through its beautiful art, artifacts, and furniture.
